To cross some of the footpaths of the National Park that take us to unforgettable views for the more outstanding attractives of this mythical region.

El Chaltén Escapade trip highlights:

  • Mountain hiking option to the foot of the Fitz Roy and cerro Torre
Day 1: El Calafate – El Chalten – Lake Viedma
In the morning we drive our way across the Patagonian steppe and around Lakes Argentino and Viedma to El Chalten, a small and picturesque mountain village at the foot of Mount Fitz Roy. Driving distance 220 km.
In the afternoon we take a boat trip to sail from Bahia Tunel Southwards accross Lake Viedma. We sail close to the coast with beautiful sights of Cerro Huemul and Fitz Roy. The trip leads us to the front of the Viedma Glacier, with its white and blue ice walls 40 mts tall. The tour guide will give us plenty of information about the glaciology of the area. By 5:30 pm we are back to Bahia Tunel and from there we drive half an hour to El Chalten.

Day 2: El Chalten
This day is at your own.
There are a number of short, low difficulty hiking trails, which lead in no more than an hour of easy hiking to some of the best mountain sights with panoramics views of the Andes. All the hiking trails are clearly marked, with signals, easy to follow and very rewarding.
Another option is to visit the National Park Administration Visitors Centre, where you will fin interesting information about the area. From the Visitor Centre building you have full views on Mount Fitz Roy and Cerro Torres.

Day 3: El Chalten - El Calafate
Early in the morning we drive back to El Calafate.
The rest of the day is at leisure to visit this beautiful town.
